MAC (Media Access Control) address, also known as MAC address, hardware address, is used to define the location of network devices. In the OSI model, the third layer, the network layer, is responsible for IP addresses, and the second layer, the data link layer, is responsible for MAC addresses. Therefore, a host will have an IP address, and each network location will have a MAC address that is unique to it.
